Patrick Ryan from the Buffalo History Museum will discuss William Wells Brown, who escaped slavery and risked his life to help others find freedom. In his spare time, he taught himself to read and write, lectured on the evils of slavery, and was the first African American to publish a novel and, later, a play. Available in person and via Zoom. Registrants will receive a recording of the talk.
